Shufford Group Home, Inc.

The Shufford Group Home is owned and operated by myself, Annette Shufford. I am a goal oriented wife and mother of three. This past year mentoring young women from many different backgrounds inspired me to provide other females with new opportunities through a fresh start.

It has been an undying dream to re-invent the image of group homes by creating a comfortable home-like environment; an environment where young women can feel relaxed aiding their growth and recovery. I hope to rebuild the foundations of these young women by helping them accomplish their dreams. As a woman who has had many obstacles in my path, I learned through the grace of my grandmother that you have to see the good side to a bad situation. This thinking has helped me grow into the businesswoman, wife, and mother I am today and it is information that I hope to impart to the young women in my group home.

No tragedy or hardship should stop us from accomplishing our dreams. These young women will receive nourishment to help decimate their shaky foundations (wrong ideas and negative lessons they have learned thus far) and rebuild a strong foundation so they can soar and grow, taking the information they discover now with them into adulthood. Through career encouragement seminars/ workshops, the young women will learn how to develop their dreams.

At this moment, a quote by Edward Bulwer Lytton sticks out in my mind, “To find what you seek in the road of life, the best proverb of all is that which says: ‘Leave no stone unturned.” I want to provide an environment for young women that will enable them to turn over stones of self-doubt and mistrust and turn them into gems of prosperity.
